The GeneConvene Academy is a free learning platform on the GeneConvene Virtual Institute. It is run by the GeneConvene Virtual Institute, part of the GeneConvene Global Collaborative, an initiative of the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH). By using the Academy, you agree to these terms.
Using the Academy
- You can use the Academy as a guest or with an account. Both are free.
- As a guest, your progress and notes are saved only on your device. If you clear your browser data or change devices, they are lost.
- With an account, you can sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email. Keep access to that email or Google account secure. Anyone who controls it can sign in as you.
- Please give your real name if you want it on a certificate.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- try to break, overload or get around the security of the site;
- use automated tools to copy course content or send large numbers of requests;
- use the AI features to produce harmful, unlawful or abusive content;
- share your account with others or sign in as someone else.
We may limit or close an account that breaks these rules.
Course content
- The course explains the CBD Biosafety Technical Series No. 7 (BTS 7). It is for learning only. It is not official guidance, legal advice or a regulatory decision.
- BTS 7 itself is published by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Where the course and BTS 7 differ, BTS 7 is the authority.
- Course materials belong to the GeneConvene Global Collaborative or the people who made them. You may download them for your own learning and share them with credit. Please do not sell them or present them as your own.
AI features
- Some features, such as the AI tutor and the Competency Check dialogue, use artificial intelligence to respond to what you write.
- AI responses can be wrong. Check important points against BTS 7 and the course.
- Do not enter confidential, personal or sensitive information in the AI features.
Certificates
- A Certificate of Completion shows that you finished the course. A Certificate of Competency shows that you passed the Competency Check.
- Certificates are issued by the GeneConvene Global Collaborative. They are not professional licenses or regulatory qualifications.
